Put simply, orthodontics is the area of dentistry focused on repositioning teeth and jaws. There are a variety of tooth and bite issues that we address beyond the usual crowding or spacing between teeth. These include overbites, underbites, crossbites, teeth that don’t come together, extra teeth, missing teeth, and stuck teeth. Some of these may be obvious to you and some of them may require a more trained eye. A proper diagnosis by our orthodontic specialist is always the first step and will help you discover which areas of your bite can benefit from correction and why. Take a look at these common bite issues and learn which ones describe your particular teeth.
The services we offer cover all age groups. There are unique issues that can arise and should be corrected in young children, teenagers, and even adults. You are never too old for a consultation if your dentist recommends it or if you yourself have concerns. A referral is not needed and you are welcome to arrange an appointment yourself. Familiarize yourself with the orthodontic services we offer so that you can determine which ones may be of benefit to you or your family members.
Orthodontic tooth and jaw movement can be accomplished in a number of ways, and this is often one of the major choices a patient needs to make. Major categories including traditional braces, clear aligners, growth modifying appliances, or a combination thereof. Our team can provide different treatment options based on your specific goals and needs. There is no "one size fits all" and we tailor our treatment to each individual. Browse through the appliances we use to get an idea of what your options might be.
Your consultation is the first step in all of this where you will meet your orthodontist and the team, give us some information, get a comprehensive exam, and talk about future steps. Check out our guide on what to expect at your first visit.

What is an Orthodontist?
An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has undergone years of additional training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. They are experts in diagnosing, preventing and treating malocclusions, which are problems with the positioning, spacing, and alignment of the teeth and jaws. Orthodontists, like Drs. Hickman and Habibi, help patients achieve beautiful, functional smiles through the use of braces, Invisalign® and other appliances.
