Special Hours May 2024

Our orthodontic floor will be closed May 1st, the week of May 20-24th, and May 28th.  During this time we will have limited access to messaging so please review the information below for tips and tricks managing common orthodontic and prosthodontic emergencies.

We have provided some advice for patients experiencing common troubles below.  Please review this information.  Should you need to contact us we can be reached via email (info@HSGdental.ca) or Facebook Messenger. We will not be regularly monitoring these services during our holidays, but will be in touch when we are back in the office.

If you feel your situation needs to be seen immediately and are unable to reach us we suggest you contact your family dentist. If you are unable to reach both us nor your family dentist you may contact the Ottawa Dental Society's emergency service at 613-523-4185.  Ahead of this please review the information below.

Orthodontic emergencies

Common issues involve:

  • Broken brackets

  • Long poking wires

  • Loose appliances (ex: Herbst, Expander)

  • Broken retainer wire behind teeth

For tips on how to deal with these emergencies, read more here.

Please note that emergency appointments with us for broken appliances may not always result in a full repair that day due to the specific circumstances of each instance. However, we will still make things stable, comfortable, and then plan a time to fully repair the breakage.

Should you have an orthodontic emergency while we are closed and you feel it needs to be seen immediately we advise you contact your family dentist.

Welcome to Ottawa! It is unfortunate that prosthodontic issues can come up while on holidays, but they do.  Be it a loose implant component, a chipped tooth, or a broken denture, we are here to help. In most cases we provide palliative care to stabilize you enough to get you home to your current provider.
